From time to time, we are asked what our needs are other than financial.  Below is list of current our needs:

· Mentors – A mentor is someone who not only helps a student with his/her homework on weekly basis, but also is consistently contacting the student's teachers and family to see how that student is doing in his/her classes.  Furthermore, the mentor would be someone that would help the student learn and apply essential life skills, such as how to balance a check book, how to make good moral decisions, how to strategically decide what to do with his/her life after he/she graduates from high school, etc.

· Internship Opportunities for High School Students – As we strive to enroll more high school students in the after-school program, we would like to partner with local businesses that can offer internships during the school year and/or during the summer.  It would be great if these students can learn job skills, as well as begin thinking through what career they would like to pursue after they graduate from high school.

· School supplies — Students in our after-school program are in need of the following supplies:

à TI30 calculator

à 3 Ring Binder's (all sizes)

à Note book paper

à Electric pencil sharpeners

à Sharpies

à Backpacks

· Hygiene and Clothing items – Many of the children in the community are in need of the following hygiene items:

à Men's Deodorant

à Tooth paste

à Tooth brushes

à Antibacterial Wipes

à Lotion

à Powders (baby)

à Hand Sanitizer

à Ladies Deodorant

à Always Pads all sizes (for women)

à Socks/footie's

à Shampoo/Conditioner (for women & men of color)

à Kleenex

à Laundry Detergent

à Gallon of Clorox

à Fabric Softener

Also, some students may not have enough clothing (i.e. socks, underwear, shoes, etc.).  We have a room set aside at our facility to store these items, so that we can freely give them to students who are in need.

If you desire to help and/or know someone that we can contact to help with meeting any of the needs mentioned above, please send an email to our program director, Kisha Darden
